It’s Morning For These Rising Poets

Poets have been around for thousands of years, spinning great torrents of emotion into a form of storytelling which stimulates all of the senses in a sort of ‘literary synesthesia.’ Great poets from Homer to Sylvia Plath, Robert Browning, Edgar Allan Poe, and even Langston Hughes have been pouring their hearts out onto paper for the enjoyment of readers for many generations. Now, there is a new stock of future poets emerging to take the spotlight from the greats who inspired them. Poets like Emily O’Neill and Valerie Loveland are beginning to rise up and make a statement to the literary world.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed here.

Emily O’Neill is best known for her eccentric style writing poems, often precisely choosing words which evoke various sensations within the reader. She reads her poems aloud to growing audiences all over the country. Her most recently published work, entitled ‘Nursery’, which seeks to evoke feelings of loss and yearning regarding the birth of new life.

Valerie Loveland is the author of ‘Reanimated, Somehow,’ which was published in 2009. She is one to look out for, having won several local competitions and recently obtained an award from a local literary festival in her home state of Massachusetts. Her most recent poetic work, ‘Singed and Soaked,’ tells a story about firefighters rushing to the scene of a fire at a local bookstore.

While these beginning poets have not yet become seasoned, respected veterans, their time is fast approaching. Soon, both O’Neill and Loveland will likely take their places among many of the classic literary greats who first inspired them.
